Penzel Mueller was a fine old American company that operated up until the 1950s. Their professional Artist model clarinets were considered among the best U.S.-made instruments, and several professional clarinetists played them, including Woody Herman. We are offering this Penzel Mueller “Artist” model Bb clarinet, metal clarinet. We estimate that this #K144 was made in the late 1930s. This wonderful old instrument has been lovingly restored with new premium pads and corks. The mechanism is tight, with no dents. It has silver-plated keys and body. Inside the bell is gold lacquer. One jump key has been replaced at some point in the past. It comes with its good original case and original PM mouthpiece. It is engraved “U.S.,” denoting its service in the United States military during WWII. This is a great, quality metal clarinet that plays with the best of them! $650 plus shipping.

Please note:
As professional repair technicians, our labor to completely overhaul a clarinet is approximately $250-$300. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled with the mechanism tightened, new double skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, you will likely have to invest in an overhaul either before you play it or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
