King American Standard Metal Clarinet Circa 1920s
The HN White Co. made King, Cleveland, and American Standard Clarinets. Among early U.S. metal clarinet makers, HN White was renowned for quality and workmanship. This interesting instrument, serial number 2435, appears to be from the 1920s. It features a lacquered brass body and bright silver-plated keys. The body lacquer is original; the barrel has been relacquered. No dents. We overhauled it in our shop with new double-skin pads and corks. The mechanism is tight. It comes with its original case and a hard rubber mouthpiece with Rovner ligature and cap. These play nicely and are a bargain. $525 plus shipping. Please see the photographs.
Please note:
As professional repair technicians, our labor to completely overhaul a clarinet is approximately $250-$300. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled with the mechanism tightened, new double skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, it is likely that you will have to invest in an overhaul either before playing them or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
