Elkhart Metal Clarinet Circa 1925-26
The Elkhart Band Instrument Co. was an interesting company that operated from 1923 until 1927. The presidents of both Conn and Buescher owned it. After Mr. Beardsley’s death, the Elkhart name became an intermediate line for Buescher. We restored this one #22938. While no accurate serial number list exists for Elkhart Band Instrument Company, we estimate that this instrument was made around 1925 or 1926! It is a true, playable antique clarinet. It is in bright silver plate with bright silver-plated keys. No major dents; the mechanism is tight. The plating is good. New pads, corks, and needle springs. It comes in a period case with a hard rubber mouthpiece. Own a piece of good playable history for $455 plus shipping. Please see the photographs.
Please note:
As professional repair technicians, our labor to completely overhaul a clarinet is approximately $250-$300. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled with the mechanism tightened, new double skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, it is likely that you will have to invest in an overhaul either before you play it or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
