Rare Harry O’Brien Wooden Clarinet Circa 1940s
Harry O’Brien was a small regional maker in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our research informs us that he sourced parts from established companies and built clarinets on a very small scale. This instrument #M60 has been overhauled in our shop with new double-skin pads and corks. Raw nickel-silver keys. No cracks. The center tenon has had brass bushings installed to improve joint fit. Comes with case, Noblet rubber mouthpiece, and accessories. Please see the photographs. $700 plus shipping.
Please note:
As professional repair technicians, we charge approximately $250-$300 to completely overhaul a clarinet. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled, with the mechanism tightened, new double-skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, you will likely need to invest in an overhaul either after you purchase them or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
