Elkhart Band Instrument Company Metal Clarinet Circa 1924-1925
The Elkhart Band Instrument Co. was an interesting company that operated from 1923 until 1927. It was owned by the presidents of both Conn and Buescher. After Mr. Beardsley’s death, the Elkhart name became an intermediate line for Buescher. We rarely encounter a three-piece Elkhart clarinet, but we restored this one #17750. While no accurate serial number list exists for Elkhart Band Instrument Company, we estimate that this instrument was made around 1925 or 1925! It is a true, playable antique clarinet. It is in a matte silver plate with bright silver-plated keys. No major dents, mechanism is tight. New pads, corks, and needle springs. It comes in its original case with a Clark Fobes Debut mouthpiece. Own a piece of playable history for $450 plus shipping. Please see the photographs.
Please note:
As professional repair technicians, our labor to completely overhaul a clarinet is approximately $250-$300. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled with the mechanism tightened, new double skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, it is likely that you will have to invest in an overhaul either before you play it or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
