As professional technicians, we are very selective about what clarinets we recommend for student musicians. From experience, we prefer quality U.S.-made student model clarinets. These instruments are rugged, stay in adjustment under rough handling, and play well. Ours have been professionally overhauled with all new pads and corks. This Selmer CL300, serial number 98214, has a matte finish that resembles more expensive wooden instruments. It includes a mouthpiece, ligature, cap, case, reed, swab, and cork grease. It represents a true value at $300 plus shipping.

As professional repair technicians, our labor to completely overhaul a clarinet is approximately $250-$300. When you purchase one of our clarinets, it has been professionally overhauled with the mechanism tightened, new double skin pads, and new corks. While you can purchase as-is instruments for less, it is likely that you will have to invest in an overhaul either before playing them or shortly thereafter. We don’t cut corners with cheaper supplies or patchwork. When you compare our quality, you will understand why we don’t accept lower “make offers” on our instruments.
